The current instability in Haiti is making life challenging for the children and their families. Sadly some of our schools cannot meet because the threat of the gangs makes it dangerous or impossible for the children to come. Many families have fled the violence, and are now living wherever they can find refuge and shelter away from the gangs.

The following attendance chart reveals this challenge in numbers. For the first two weeks of January our attendance was around half of those registered. Thankfully in the third week that number rose to three quarters of those registered.

As sponsors we are urged to pray for our students and their families, whether or not they are in school. They need protection, they need food and shelter, they need stability and security, they need education and encouragement. And they need to experience the presence and power of God through Jesus with them, assuring them of God’s love and purpose for them through it all.
